If u have read today's newspaper then the sting operation has shown the corrupt practices that are very much prevalent in the hockey. IHF Secretary Jothikumaran was caught red handed accepting the bribe of Rs 2 lacs for the selection of a player in the team to be selected for Azlan Shah Hockey starting next month. Various former players have tried to expose this practise in the past but they all were victimised by IHF. KPS Gill and Jothikumaran are holding the top post in the hockey since 1994 and in last 15 years we have seen slump in Indian Hockey. No prize for guessing the reasons.
Perhaps more investigations will reveal the actual details of Sting Operation but this is certainly a black day in the Indian Hockey which is already in troubled waters.
The channel claimed that its team met Jothi in a five-star hotel in New Delhi and after accepting Rs 2 lakhs, told them that he will get the said player selected in the team for the Azlan Shah Cup for a total payment of Rs 5 lakhs. The channel also claimed that Jothi agreed to get the team's permission to organise a tournament.
Dhanraj Pillay said that Pillay alleged that Jothi got Adam Sinclair into the team when the Tamil Nadu forward even did not know how to hold a hockey stick.
