THE RECENT happenings in our country in connection with the blasts in Malegaon has raised few questions. The questions that need to be thought carefully and then answered else we are heading towards a very dangerous situation. The biggest hurdle in this will no doubt be again our own politicians. As I have always maintained that we should not blame the entire community for the misdeeds of a few people. But that has happened till date and with the arrest of a few Hindu leaders in connection with terror activities, we are repeating the same mistake.
The police now say that the arrested people may have had a role to play in the bombs that went off on the Samjhauta Express and killed 66 Indians and Pakistanis on the Lahore-bound train. If this claim is under some political pressure, then we are just losing our way somewhere diplomatically and also our credibility. This is because the security agencies said that the blasts in the train was handiwork of the Lashkar-e-Tayyaba (LeT). I doubt that developments and politics being played over this issue will let the truth come out in the public. And at last, India will bear the brunt.
The encounter in New Delhi’s Jamia Nagar led to protests from the allies of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) and the arrests of Hindu leaders has given Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a poll plank to devise its strategies. The political parties who have always appeased the minorities and have claimed to champion their cause feel very proud with the arrest of few top leaders from Hindu organisation.
They are also making sure that those guilty are punished at all costs and the faces behind the curtains are also exposed. But they will always refrain to speak in such a way against the minorities. The old political distinctions between centrist and right-wing have come to mean less and less. I have firm belief that anyone involved in anti-national activities will be dealt with full force and conviction and politicians should stop meddling in the affairs of the national security. But our politicians are busy with their vote planks. Elections will come and go, but the country and its institutions will remain forever.
The few developments in the nation in last year or so that the enemy of the country now lies within. Whether it was attack on Christians and involvement of Bajrang Dal, Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and its involvement in terror activities, Raj Thackeray’s crusade against ’outsiders’ (who belong to same nation to which Mumbai belongs) in Maharashtra, members f parliament (MPs) in Tamil Nadu openly championing the cause of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), etc. This apart from the daily threat that we face from Naxalites and Maoists. And these problems are being further aggravated by our spineless and selfish politicians. I was reading an article where it was mentioned that we must nail and punish the spoilers of peace, and this mission can be started by punishing our narcissistic politicos. It’s the irresponsible and liar ’leaders’ who will end up hurting this nation in the long run more than any of the blast accused.
The common man has just begun losing confidence in the government and there is simmering anger in him which can explode anytime now.
